Do I need to book before a visit?
No, not unless you are visiting with a group of 10 or more people.

How long should I allow for a visit?
We would recommend 2 - 3 hours to explore the centre, or 3 - 4 hours if you wish to take in a Giant Movie.

How much does it cost to get in?
Entry into the Centre and Car Parking for visitors is free. Then simply pay for the attractions that you wish to visit whilst you are here such as the Giant Movies, Children's Soft Play, Turrets & Tunnels (Outdoor Play) and Create! Pottery Painting Workshop.

Does Rheged have disabled access?
Yes, Rheged has been designed with disabled visitors in mind.
All levels of the building have full disabled access and toilet facilities
Disabled parking available close to the main entrance
Shopmobility scooters are available (must be booked in advance)
8 wheelchair spaces are available in the Main Auditorium
6 wheelchair spaces in the Lecture Theatre
An induction loop is available (must be booked in advance)
Guide dogs and hearing dogs welcome
All printed materials are available in large print, text only and audio versions
Are dogs allowed into the Centre?
The only dogs allowed into the Centre are Guide / Hearing Dogs.

Does Rheged have a cash machine?
Rheged has two cash machines, one located within the 24hr Total Petrol Station and the other located within the Centre, close to the Main Entrance.

What is there for children to do?
Children can let off steam at Rheged with a wide range of challenging activities for children of all ages designed to encourage learning through play and hands-on creativity including Create! Pottery Painting Workshop, Soft Play and our outdoor play area, Turrets & Tunnels.

Where can we eat at Rheged?
Choose from a relaxed long lunch to a quick coffee and cake, Rheged offers fresh food with a distinct Cumbrian emphasis. You can choose from Rheged Café, a table service café right at the heart of Rheged. Taste!, a vibrant food bar serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Terrace Café for excellent Fair Trade tea and coffee, homemade cakes and sandwiches.

How many shops are there?
Rheged has 10 rather special shops that reflect the region and its activities, its crafts people and producers, offering a choice not often found on many high streets including Splash for luxury handmade bath and body products and Tipple for Local beers, English wines and Scottish whiskies.

Is Rheged underground?
Rheged is housed under a unique grass roof, Rheged is a surprising building of architectural merit, well worth a visit in its own right. It is a very light and airy building with 7 glass atrium and large windows.

Is Rheged a museum?
Rheged is an international award-winning visitor attraction where you will experience an inspiring day out like no other.

Is Rheged council run?
No, 80% of the funding came from our four founding Cumbrian-born Directors. The remaining 20% came from English Partnerships, European Grants and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
