Create a fabulous original lino print to use to print your own selection of Christmas cards and labels to send to family and friends.
We will print these in single colour and also use metallic ink for some prints. If there is time and your design is suitable, you could cut up your design to ink in different colours as a ‘jigsaw ‘print too! You will learn all about mark making and texture using the lino tools. The course will equip you with all the knowledge for hand printing at home.
Sue Rowland is an experienced tutor who trained at Central St Martins School of Art and is now a professional artist living in the beautiful Kentmere Valley. Sue enjoys inspiring others and passing on her enthusiasm for printmaking. Sue’s illustrative folklore, landscape and nature themed lino prints were exhibited in Great Print 9 at Rheged and Sue will also be producing some new work for Great Print 10. Sue will provide all the materials you need for the printing element of the class. However you can bring drawings or pictures of an animal or bird and simple landscape ideas to incorporate into the design. Don’t make designs too tiny and detailed as there is a lot of cutting. We will be working on designs for a design 14.5cm x 14.5 cm. Sue will also have plenty of ideas you can use.
Please bring a pencil, biro, masking tape, fine permanent pen as well as an apron or old clothes plus rubber gloves or vinyl gloves which are large enough so you can take off and reuse easily.
