Creative Writing with Emma and Helen

Have you always wanted to write but you’re not sure where to start? Would you like to create your own characters and plots and write the opening to a novel?

Come and enjoy a day of creative writing with Emma and Helen. During the day Emma and Helen will teach you how to:
  • Establish and present characters and setting
  • Use a variety of sentence types for impact on the reader
  • Find inspiration for your writing through writing exercises, images and classical music
  • Write an effective opening to your novel.
You will also learn the secrets of successful writing by analysing the work of published authors.

There will be writing exercises throughout the day and in the last session you will have the time to start writing your novel using the techniques you have learnt.

You will go home with a goodie bag containing work from the day and more writing tasks to inspire you and develop your skills.
The day will be informal and supportive and an opportunity for you to meet like-minded people.

Emma and Helen met while teaching English at an independent school in Cumbria. Both degree qualified teachers, they have 44 years’ experience between them teaching creative writing skills to children, young people and adults.
