2 day workshop, 10am-4pm each day.  Starting at 10am on the 3rd February 2024

Hester has specialised in collagraph for over 25 years and really enjoys the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for this diverse printmaking method with beginners and artists who want to explore a new medium.

This two-day workshop explores different and exciting ways of making and printing collagraphs. On the first day you will discover a range of techniques, as Hester demonstrates various ways to create texture and tone. Hester will then give one-to-one guidance as you use what you have learnt to create your own collagraph plates. The second day will be spent printing your plates using Hester’s portable etching press. Hester will demonstrate how to ink, wipe, and print in monochrome and also how to ink and wipe plates ‘à la poupée’ (using more than one colour on a single plate).

All materials, including paper, will be provided, together with a handout. Please come dressed in old clothes and bring an apron, photos or sketches for personal inspiration, a notebook and pen for taking notes and any extra collage materials that you would like to try.

Hester Cox exhibits her prints throughout the UK and internationally. Hester will exhibit in Great Print 9 in Rheged’s Gallery from 7 Dec 23 – 29 Feb 24
