Sara Moore from Whole Punching introduces the craft of Oxford punch needle. Dating back to the 1880s, it was used for making rugs – being much speedier than the closely linked craft of rug hooking – but in its modern application it can be used to make cushions, wall hangings and other textile items.
This workshop is perfect for beginners. You will learn the foundation techniques so that you feel comfortable continuing your practice after the workshop.
You will use a range of punch needle materials, including gripper strip frames, hoops, monks cloth, Oxford punch needles and 100 per cent wool rug yarns, which you will have the opportunity to purchase after the class.
Sara is one of a handful of Oxford punch needle certified instructors outside North America. She recently moved from Bristol to Cumbria.
