Do you have ideas for characters but are not sure how to develop them, or perhaps you’re just starting to think about characters that might appear in your story or novel but have not got any further than that?
In this class, you will learn different ways to create characters. Emma will teach you where to start by thinking about aspects of human behaviour and how we interact with others. You will build on these initial thoughts and ideas, step by step, so that by the end of the class, you will have created 3 realistic characters, which you can include in your own story or novel.
The session will be informal and supportive and an opportunity for you to meet like-minded people. There will be plenty of time to write and try out ideas. You will be given a course booklet to work with and take away with you.
Emma is a teacher with 28 years’ experience, and she is passionate about helping people develop their creativity.
Previous students in Emma’s other creative writing classes have commented:
‘Emma instantly helped create a fun, friendly atmosphere. With a good mix of learning by presentation and examples, writing prompts and enthusiastic encouragement, the time flew by.’ Clare
‘I loved the way we were guided through the session.’ Rachel
‘Teaching interspersed with writing activities – great!’ Ian
12.45 – 3.15pm – 5 steps to including your own experience in your creative writing
3.30-5pm - Time and space to think and write
