As part of our new year new craft series, Sara Moore of Whole Punching joins us to guide you on creating your own punch needle wall hanging loop, either using one of her own designs or your own. This relaxing yarn craft originated in the 1880s for the making of rugs, but today it is used to make a wide range of contemporary textile items including wall hangings and cushions.
Sara, who recently moved from Bristol to Cumbria, is one of a handful of Oxford punch needle certified instructors outside North America.
All materials are provided in a printed drawstring project bag, which is yours to take home. They include a hoop pre-stretched with monks cloth (punch needle fabric), a Lavor fine punch needle set, a selection of 100 per cent cotton yarns, black thread snips, printed designs and handouts.
