Have you always wanted to write but you’re not sure where to start or have you started writing and feel you need further inspiration, working amongst like-minded people?

Who would enjoy this course?
This course is suitable for those who came to Emma and Helen’s first course at Rheged on March 25th and also those new to their courses.
The day will be informal and supportive and an opportunity for you to be creative, developing your writing skills.

Emma and Helen will teach you:
  • How to use photography and music for inspiration
  • The different ways to write dialogue so that it sounds natural and realistic
  • How to use oral storytelling as a springboard for your own fiction writing
  • How to develop your characters’ voices
  • How to use the ‘ingredients’ of a successful piece of fiction to craft your own work
  • How to create realistic characters, dialogue and settings and use a variety of devices in your work, through the close analysis of published authors’ work.
There will be writing exercises throughout the day and you will have the time to develop your ideas and write your novel using the techniques you have learnt.

You will go home with a goodie bag containing work from the day and more writing tasks to inspire you and develop your skills.
