Develop your drawing skills through the art of portraiture. During this class you will be guided through different portrait-drawing techniques and explore mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and pastel. Catherine aims to expand your ideas of what makes good portraiture, culminating in a final portrait drawing that you will be proud of.
Catherine MacDiarmid has exhibited widely including in the BP Portrait Award. Catherine is currently exhibiting her work at Rheged in the Lake Artists Society’s 2021 exhibition and was a finalist in the Sky Portrait Artists of the Year 2019. Catherine has 26 years’ experience teaching art courses.
Please bring with you:
*A3/A2 sketchbook of cartridge paper
*Coloured pastel paper (optional)
*Willow charcoal
*Putty rubber
*Graphite stick
*Range of pastels, soft or hard
*A4 photograph of yourself or a loved one, or tablet/phone to take a photo, or a free-standing mirror
We have a Design shop at Rheged in case you are missing any materials.
