Yarn hooking is a relaxed and creative craft. It is similar to the old age method of rug making but we will be using yarn, a finer hooking tool and fine weave hessian instead of strips of cloth during the workshop.

During the workshop, you will create your own Five Sheep picture. You will be working on one of Carole’s custom -made Hooking Frames, which is yours to take home with you at the end of the day. There will be lots of yarn colours to choose from - so you can make them as colourful as you like or stick to traditional sheep colours.

You will first practice the hooking technique on a piece of hessian and continue until you feel ready to start on your Sheep picture. Once you master the hooking technique, it is rhythmic, relaxing and a therapeutic craft. You will not finish your design in the day, but you will have all the skill, yarn and tools required to finish your design at home.

The price of the class includes the cost of the materials which includes the yarn, hooking tool, hooking frame and pattern drawn on the hessian which is yours to take away.

Carole of hooked by design is a self-confessed ‘yarnaholic’ and a maker. Carole got hooked on hooking with yarn after seeing the craft at a local Agricultural Show about 30 years ago. Carole regularly exhibits at shows including Wonderwool, Buxton Wool Gathering and Cumbrian Wool Gathering amongst others.

This class has been programmed to coincide with the Native Spirit Herdwick Photography Exhibition.
