What are Rheged’s opening times?
You can find our latest opening times here.
Are you open all year round?
We’re open every day, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Do I have to pay to visit?
Entry and parking are both free, but make sure to register your number plate with a colleague in our café or deli. Charges only apply to attractions such as our films, live streaming, indoor play and some exhibitions.
Do you have a car park?
Yes, and we have 250 spaces, plus disabled parking and coach parking. Our car park is for Rheged customers only and cars or motorhomes are not permitted to park overnight as the area is locked.
It’s free to park but if you plan on staying longer than 5 hours, please register your number plate with a colleague in our café or deli to avoid a car parking charge. Once registered, you can stay for an additional 7 hours (max 12 hours total).
Do you have EV charging?
In our main car park we have two 6ok GRIDSERVE dual electric car-charging points at 69p per kWh (price is subject to change)
Is there anywhere I can work with my laptop?
Our Gather space is the perfect place for customers to work or meet with an abundance of power sockets, high speed wifi and self serve coffee machines.
Can I get a refund on my ticket if I’m unable to attend?
All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, unless the event has been cancelled then we will refund your ticket. If you have booked a ticket and cannot attend, in special circumstances, with sufficient notice, we may be able to refund your ticket or exchange it for another date where possible; however, we are under no obligation to do so.
Why is there a booking fee?
All tickets now include a 60p booking fee to cover the third-party booking system costs, credit card fees and administrative costs. By confirming your booking, you are agreeing to pay this additional fee. Once a booking is confirmed we are unable to refund the booking fee.
Do groups or coaches need to pre-book or can we just turn up?
We ask all groups arriving on a coach or minibus to pre-book to ensure we make the correct arrangements.
Can I bring my dog into the building?
Dogs are allowed in our Foyer, Deli and all our shops, as well as the lower booths of our Café and Blencathra, our self-service seating area. However, dogs are not allowed in our Gallery, Design Shop and children’s play area.
Only assistance dogs have access to the full centre.
What facilities do you have for babies?
We have facilities for baby changing, heating bottles and food as well as great pram and buggy access around the building.
Where can I go for a drink or bite to eat before/after an event?
Our Cafe seats 100 and is the perfect place to meet socially or for work. Its fresh modern menus feature speciality food and drink from some of our favourite craft producers in Cumbria and beyond.
Can we bring our own picnics?
We do not allow food other than that bought in Rheged to be consumed in our main building. However, we do have outside picnic areas which you are welcome to use.
Can I get a refund on a product bought in your Shops?
Yes if you produce a receipt and do this within 28 days of purchase.
Which is the nearest lake to Rheged?
Our nearest lake is Ullswater, only 10 minutes away.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes all areas of our main building are wheelchair accessible with designated seating areas in our Cafe and Cinema.
