Deadline for submissions: 10am, Thursday 25 August 2022.

Calling Young Farmers…

Are you a young farmer who is interested in taking photos? Would you like a master class from an award-winning photographer? Would you like to see your photos featured in the ‘Forty Farms’ exhibition at Rheged and be in with a chance of winning £200 of vouchers to use anywhere in the Westmorland businesses including Tebay Services and Rheged (T and C’s in general rules below).?

If the answer is yes, then we have an opportunity just for you! Rural life photographer, Amy Bateman is creating an exhibition at Rheged centred on how 40 farms across Cumbria will protect the future of farming. The exhibition will explore the challenges of food production, land use, climate change and future innovation through the eyes of farmers.

The competition is open to current members of Cumbria YFC and has two age categories; 17 years and under and 18 years and over. Photographs should be taken by individuals (not groups) using a smartphone, camera or a high-tech device.

The Film and Photography Competition

As the Forty Farms Exhibition is both looking to the future of farming in our County as well as engaging countryside lovers to have a better understanding of it, it seemed a great opportunity to involve the Young Farmers.

Background

The competition is open to current members of Cumbria YFC and there are two age categories; 17 years and under and 18 years and over.

The aim of the competition is to give an insight into the 21st century young farmer in Cumbria today through the medium of film and photography. Extra points for new angles plus unexpected and thought-provoking subject matter. Some Cumbrian wit and humour is always welcome.
