As part of our Twenty-Five & Onwards Art Exhibition in our Gallery until 1 Feb 25, which features Dorothy’s artwork, we are delighted to host this unique screening of "Show Up and Start". This moving 47-minute documentary, celebrates the life, work and determination of Lake District based artist Dorothy Ramsay – and is sure to leave you inspired

This award-winning documentary explores Dorothy’s journey from her postwar childhood in northeast England, through her time at Camberwell School of Art, to her later years as weaver, therapist and full-time artist.

Set against the awe-inspiring beauty of the English Lake District, the film invites audiences to experience the interplay of nature, life, and art through Ramsay's eyes. Interviews with younger artists, touched by her wisdom and legacy, add layers of intergenerational perspective, making the documentary both timeless and urgent
